"Fisherman's Choice is consistently pulling trophy trout and salmon from Alaska's Rivers just 90 minutes north of Anchorage"
Fisherman's Choice Charter fishes Alaska's Little Susitna River, Deshka River and Talkeetna River in Mat-Su Valley, an easy drive north of Anchorage. We start fishing Alaska's Little Susitna River in Mid-May for Alaskan King Salmon.
We fish the Little Susitna River until the King Salmon run slows down, usually in mid-June. We then launch from our private launch in Houston, Alaska, a short drive north of Anchorge, fishing the upper end of Alaska's Little Susitna River for Sockeye Salmon that gather to spawn at Lake Creek.
After the close of Alaska's King Salmon Season, we once again fish the lower end of Alaska's Little Susitna River for Alaska's Silver Salmon. Alaska's famous Little Susitna River hosts the second largest river run of Silver Salmon in Alaska.
In early June we start fishing the Alaska Deshka River for King Salmon. The Deshka River is the only river in Alaska's Matanuska Valley that allows the use of salmon eggs for bait for part of the king salmon season. The Deshka River boasts one of the largest runs of Alaska King Salmon in the state, with an escapement of 30,000+ each year.
Beginning in late June we start fishing for King Salmon on Alaska's Talkeetna River. As the days progress, we also start picking up Sockeye Salmon and Chum Salmon along with the Kings.
The Talkeetna River has one of the strongest runs of all 5 species of salmon. The Talkeetna River is also famous for its abundance of Trophy Rainbows, Dollies and Arctic Grayling! Both the Deshka River and Talkeetna River are tributaries of the Big Susitna River which hosts the second largest run of migrating fish in the world!
